The Golden Girl

The Golden Girl

Hello my fellow readers,

DSC_0668It feels fantastic to be sitting behind my laptop once again, writing for the blog! I am so happy to be typing again-it feels as if my fingers are dancing. Bizarre imagery, I know. However, I am very ecstatic about this blog post because it features one of my favorite fall/winter locations: Central Park.

You might be wondering why have I said “fall” and not “winter” because it is already the end of December but, this year, it definitely does not feel as if winter is here. It is currently 19 Celsius, and let me just remind you that it is December 25th, 2015 after all. However, I love this weather. It grants a perfect opportunity for my photographer and I to explore more locations, shoot more looks, and upload more posts. It is the perfect weather, and as you will soon witness by the photographs, Central Park is playing along with it as well.

If you have been following me on Instagram (@fashion.caption) and Twitter (@fashion_caption), you might have already witnessed the beauty of Central Park a million times, and during various seasons. Yet, this year it feels different; it feels special. Whether it is because I have come to a realization that it is my last season that I will be spending as a teenager before graduating into the adult life, or whether it is because the weather has been pulling my happy mood strings lately, there is something about the current moment that seems so wonderful to me. Besides, I am almost done with college applications, and if you have ever applied into a higher education institution, you probably know how much time, effort, and organization it takes. But, I am glad to soon have a date with the finish line, therefore, let’s talk.

Every time I sit in front of my computer screen and type my posts, I feel as if I am talking to my friends, who I haven’t seen in a while. To an extent, it is true: you, my fellow readers, are my friends, whom I, unfortunately, cannot tell my stories to in person. However, I am always glad to be typing and editing because it feels as if I am preparing to see my friends. That is true: in every post I meet with you.

I’ve noticed in the past few weeks that my wardrobe is filled with fifty shades of black. It is self-explanatory; after all, I am a New Yorker, and it is fall/winter thus, that’s the explanation behind my wardrobe. Yet, I have recently decided to lighten it up a notch, and have begun searching for my cream coat.

If you would have met me even when I’ve started this blog, you would have been surprised by my fashion choices. There was so much neon, bright colors, and practically no black clothes left in my closet. I was the Sophia, who was known for her neon pink dress and red coat (I know that look on your face at this particular moment). However, as I have begun developing my blog, working on my sense of style, and browsing street style photos for further inspiration, I realized in what direction I would like to go to with my future self.

I began mixing basic pieces with sparkly elements, such as a white button-down and metallic skirt. I have begun searching for inspiration, which I talked about in my “The Sophia Factor” post. I changed my blog to a simpler, cleaner look that would allow people to enjoy the website, yet, focus on my theme and content. And most importantly, I found me.

Finding yourself is a truly valuable experience. The sooner you find out who you are and who you would like to be, the better you begin to feel. You begin to feel relaxed, happy, and most of all, you begin to love and believe in yourself. Believing in yourself can push you through such a vast variety of obstacles, that when you realize how many you have overcome, you begin to feel self-empowerment and self-confidence. And I believe it is important. It is important to find your inner light that will shine through you because as soon as you find it, you won’t lose it. It will push you through anything; it will give you strength you never knew you had, and it will make life seem as an adventure that you cannot wait to begin. Therefore, as cheesy as it sounds, look for your inner light and find it because there will never be anyone better than the true you.
